"AP3_RevD_cuts.xxx" README

June 06, 2004

This is the readme for the "APC_RevD_cuts.xxx" files - the measurements and cuts for the Arcade Paradise 3 MAME cabinet. These files are available at http://www.arcadeparadise.org/downloads.html. This readme contains some important things you'll need to know before marking and cutting.

SPARE PIECES:

There are allowances for quite a few "spare" pieces here. Some of the cuts (especially the angeled ones) are pretty easy to screw up, so ya might want to have spare pieces handy. If you're not like me and you're actually really good with cutting wood, then you won't have to bother.

BACK PANEL/DOOR:

I don't have a back door included in the blueprints, since 99% of all cabinets have their backs against walls, so it didn't seem important to me. Case in point: I actually DID build a back door (using a separate sheet of MDF) for Arcade Paradise 3, but I haven't had it mounted since the cabinet has been operational. If you absolutely need a back door, you'll have to do some rearranging of the pieces before marking and cutting.

CONTROL PANEL:

You'll notice that I do have cutouts for the control panel tops on these plans, even though this is not the way that I did Arcade Paradise 3; on AP3 I made my CP top out of 5/8" MDF (the rest of the cabinet was 3/4" MDF). The reason for this was that once covered with 1/8" plexiglass, the total thickness of the CP was then 3/4" (5/8" + 1/8" = 6/8" or 3/4"), so I could then use 3/4" t-molding around the control panel edges. If you're not planning on using plexiglass and you want your control panel to be the same width as the rest of the cabinet, use the one(s) marked off on these plans.

WIDTH OF BLADE / CONSISTANCY OF CUTS:

And of course, you'll have to take the width of whatever blade that you use into account with these measurements, and try to remain consistant with it with all of your cuts.
