Intro: The Madness Resumes

A year had passed since I finished the original Arcade Paradise cabinet, and it had been about six months or so since I finished the Encoder Box and the "You Don't Know Jack" controls. And you know what? I needed another project. I was starting to get a little bored, and anyone who knows me will attest that bad things happen when I'm bored.

I thought about doing a cocktail-table arcade cabinet, but after I thought about it for a while I decided to do another upright cabinet. I was pretty damned proud of myself for doing the first Arcade Paradise cab if for no other reason than the fact that I literally had no experience with most of the aspects of it, but I really felt like taking another stab at it and changing things up a bit for variety's sake.

The biggest thing that I wanted to change was the overall body style. The Arcade Paradise cab did have a pretty unique look to it, but I missed having an overhanging marquee. Also, the cabinet was way wider than I would have liked it to be, but that was only done to accomodate the 32" control panel. It wasn't until later that I figured that I could have the control panel actually overhang and be wider that the actual cabinet itself. And even though I didn't want one at the time, I thought that a coin door would be pretty cool.

Besides, like I said, I needed a new project.

And so the story continues...
